We bake like bakeries in contemporary Denmark.
All breads and pastries are freshly baked every day; no bake offs and no “baked by others” – no exceptions.

  • All the owners of our bakery, since our beginning in 1960, have been born in Denmark.
  • Danish educated baker. Both our Founder and our current Bakery Chef have the Danish Baker’s “Svendebrev”-degree.

The baking and pastry skills passed from generation to generation for over 60 years at Birkholm’s Bakery.

In 1980, Carl Jr. and Elizabeth Birkholm stepped in to carry on the tradition of baking in Solvang.  Carl continues to use the original Danish recipes that “Cookie” brought over from Denmark.

Now son, Thomas is the 3rd generation of bakers in Solvang.
