A cool-climate winegrape-growing region defined by two valleys on either side of the actual Santa Rita Hills and makes it a great place for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is that the Sta. Rita Hills runs east-west to the Pacific Ocean.

As the marine fog rolls in from the nearby Pacific Ocean through the Sta. Rita Hills and Santa Ynez Valley winegrowing regions, we’re reminded of the ocean and the vineyards and wine – Seagrape, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Sta. Rita Hills!

Alma Rosa Winery & Vineyards was founded in 2005 by pioneer winegrowers Richard & Thekla Sanford. The name, which translates to “soul of the rose,” is a tribute to the original Santa Rosa land grant on which the estate vineyards are planted.

Dedicated to crafting high quality, vineyard designated wines that reflect the unique character of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA, Alma Rosa focuses on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and other cool-climate varietals that thrive in this special region.

As the first vineyard in Santa Barbara County to be certified organic, Alma Rosa is proud to carry on that tradition through its dedication to organic farming and environmental stewardship. Alma Rosa wines can be enjoyed in the inviting urban setting of their tasting room located on Industrial Way in Buellton.

Private tastings are also offered at Alma Rosa’s El Jabalí ranch in the heart of the Sta. Rita Hills, providing a rare opportunity to sample the winery’s most limited-production wines in a historic setting.

Wine tastings, wine and cheese pairings, wine-by-the-bottle and wine-by-the glass in our inviting and spacious courtyard in downtown Solvang. Open daily and until 8 pm on weekends.

Private tastings and vineyard walks by appointment at our 628-acre ranch in Buellton.

Winery

Located in the renowned Santa Rita Hills appellation of western Santa Ynez Valley in Santa Barbara County and established during the 1990s by the Gainey family, who have farmed in Santa Ynez Valley for four generations and were searching for an ideal site on which to cultivate the classic cool-climate varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah.

Named after owner Dan Gainey’s great-grandfather, Evan’s Ranch is just ten miles from the Pacific Ocean and benefits from its marine influence, which lengthens the growing season, limits crop yields, and produces grapes with ripe, concentrated flavors balanced by bright acidity and a refreshing minerality. This enables us to craft six very limited-production, world-class wines: Las Brisas and La Marina Chardonnays, Las Brisas and Lone Oak Pinot Noirs and Las Brisas and Lone Oak Syrahs.

We are a 40+ acre ranch nestled in the rolling Santa Rita Hills of Lompoc. The ranch offers lots of privacy as well as a 2 acre mature vineyard and a small flock of sheep that roams the hills.
