DESCRIPTION:Mara Abboud: Visions of Beauty\nWildling Museum of Nature & Art\nThe Wildling Museum is pleased to partner with award-winning artist Mara Abboud in presenting Mara Abboud: Visions of Beauty\, an exhibition and fundraiser supporting the Wildling on view from October 21 – November 12\, 2023 in the Valley Oak Gallery. \nAbboud has been honored with the prestigious “Artist of the Year” award by the Academies Des Beaux Arts (New York\, 1977)\, “Artist of the Year” by the Santa Barbara Arts Council (Santa Barbara Arts Festival\, 1987)\, “International Artist of the Year” by the International Women’s Conference (Santa Barbara\, 1998)\, and the AMAL “International Artist of the Year” (Washington\, DC\, 1998). \nThis special exhibition will feature over a dozen original painted works accompanied by limited edition prints on canvas with extensive hand-painting overlay\, highlighting the natural world and beyond. Select limited edition indoor tile wall murals will also be featured in the exhibition. All works are available for sale and proceeds will support the Wildling Museum. \nDuring the show\, Abboud will also have a selection of custom-made tempered glass serving trays\, along with coaster sets and notecards for sale in the Wildling Museum store for a limited time. \nAbboud has received international recognition for her brilliant innovation and unusual painting technique\, working with acrylics on canvas and silk. Her painting style is uniquely her own\, interweaving a palette of spectacular colors with fantasy designs\, achieving a jewel-like tapestry effect reminiscent of tiles and stained glass. \nHer art has been exhibited in over 25 solo shows and reproduced in 26 publications\, including Art in America\, Art News\, Architectural Digest\, Los Angeles Times\, Boston Globe\, Palm Beach Daily\, Naples Illustrated\, Santa Barbara Magazine\, Santa Barbara News-Press\, and Montecito Journal. \nHer work is included in prestigious collections throughout the United States and Europe. DESCRIPTION:Chumash Casino Resort\nChart-Topping Instrumentalist Kenny G To Perform\nSmooth jazz instrumentalist and producer Kenny G\, who has scored top Billboard hits with “Forever in Love” and “By the Time This Night Is Over\,” will bring his North American tour to the Samala Showroom at 8 p.m. on Friday\, November 3 at the Chumash Casino Resort. Tickets for the show are $49\, $59\, $69\, $74 and $79. \nIn 1966\, at the age of 10\, Kenneth Gorelick began playing the saxophone after being captivated by a saxophonist on “The Ed Sullivan Show.” He developed his talents by playing under the direction of trumpeter Gerald Pfister and by practicing along with records from Grover Washington Jr. and Stan Getz. In 1973\, at the age of 17\, he began his career as a sideman for Barry White’s Love Unlimited Orchestra. From 1975-1980\, he was a member of a Seattle Funk band as well as a member of the Jeff Lorber Fusion. \nBeginning his solo career as Kenny G in 1982\, his self-titled album earned him a spot on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. He soon followed his debut with the albums\, “G Force” (1983)\, and “Gravity” (1985). In 1986\, he reached stardom with his fourth album\, “Duotones\,” which featured the hit single\, “Songbird.” The album reached the top 10 on the pop and jazz charts. \nIn 1992\, Kenny G gained even more attention with the release of his album\, “Breathless\,” spawning the hit single “Forever in Love\,” which earned him a Grammy for Best Instrumental Composition. He also began working on movie soundtracks for popular films such as\, “Pretty Woman\,” “Dying Young” and “The Bodyguard.”  In 1994\, he released his successful holiday album\, “Miracles\,” which reached No. 1 on the pop\, R&B and jazz charts. \nKenny G has scored more than 10 No. 1 Billboard Jazz albums\, including 2004’s “At Last…The Duets.” In 2008\, he released the Latin-infused album\, “Rhythm and Romance\,” which was followed by the R&B-influenced “Heart and Soul” in 2010 with guest vocals from Robin Thicke and Babyface. The album earned him No. 1 on the Billboard Jazz chart. After two more album releases\, Kenny G continued with his active tour schedule. In 2019\, G guest appeared on Kayne West’s song\, “Use This Gospel.” \nWith his return to solo work in 2021\, Kenny G released\, “New Standards\,” inspired by classic standards of the ‘50s and ‘60s. He will be releasing his 20th studio album\, “Innocence” in December 2023. Tickets for each event are $55\, $65\, $75\, $85 and $105. \nThe two-night showcase will feature homegrown fighters from a handful of local Central Coast boxing and MMA clubs\, including JLD Boxing Academy in Santa Maria\, Flores Boxing Club in Buellton and Knuckleheadz Boxing & MMA in Oxnard. \nWFC 160’s Friday night boxing bouts will culminate with the fight card’s scheduled main event between the popular local favorite\, John Dato (18-1-1) of Santa Maria\, and his worthy opponent\, Ronal Ron (14-3) of Pomona\, CA\, in an eight-round featherweight showdown. \nDato\, who has never lost a fight at the Chumash Casino Resort\, is known to electrify the Samala Showroom. His most recent fight at the resort in January saw him defeat the hard-hitting Jesus Rizo (12-2-1) of Santa Paula by unanimous decision in front of a raucous sold-out crowd. \nAnother highly anticipated fight on Friday night’s card will be between Rudy “El Toro” Ochoa (10-3) of Oxnard and John “Top Guy” Alimane (8-5) who fights out of Laguna Hills.
